海拔較高的台中縣和平鄉谷關溫泉區，夏天造訪一樣好玩，「另類玩法」是泡冷泉、古步道賞鳥，還可在五葉松下深呼吸、到溫泉公園戲耍溫泉魚；谷關工務段5月底將所有道路工程完成，台8線到谷關一路通暢。
